JNK1 Inhibits GluR1 Expression and GluR1-Mediated Calcium Influx through Phosphorylation and Stabilization of Hes-1.
The GluR1 subunit of the AMPA receptor plays an important role in excitatory synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity in the brain, but the regulation mechanism for GluR1 expression is largely unknown. Hairy and enhancer of split 1 (Hes-1) is a mammalian transcription repressor that regulates neuronal differentiation and development, but the role of Hes-1 in differentiated neurons is also less known. |

CPEB2–eEF2 interaction impedes HIF-1α RNA translation
Translation of mRNA into protein proceeds in three phases: initiation, elongation, and termination. Regulated translation allows the prompt production of selective proteins in response to physiological needs and is often controlled by sequence-specific RNA-binding proteins that function at initiation. Whether the elongation phase of translation can be modulated individually by trans-acting factors to synthesize polypeptides at variable rates remains to be determined |

Targeting ASIC3 for pain, anxiety, and insulin resistance.
Acid-sensing ion channel 3 (ASIC3) is a sensitive pH sensor predominantly expressed in nociceptors and responds to mild extracellular acidification. Therefore, targeting ASIC3 as an analgesic for pain associated with tissue acidosis is of great interest. Selective drugs targeting ASIC3 have been effective in relieving acid-evoked pain in animal models and human studies. |

GeoPCA: a new tool for multivariate analysis of dihedral angles based on principal component geodesics.
The GeoPCA package is the first tool developed for multivariate analysis of dihedral angles based on principal component geodesics. Principal component geodesic analysis provides a natural generalization of principal component analysis for data distributed in non-Euclidean space, as in the case of angular data. GeoPCA presents projection of angular data on a sphere composed of the first two principal component geodesics, allowing clustering based on dihedral angles as opposed to Cartesian coordinates. |
