The tuition fee is about US$ 2,100 per year.
All students are required to join Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Program six months after arriving Taiwan. Students pay the same premium (about US$ 210/year) as all Taiwan citizens and are entitled to the same medical coverage.
Academia Sinica has a dormitory building for TIGP graduate students near the Academia Sinica campus. Rooms are available to TIGP graduate students for NT$5,500 per month. Off-campus private housing is generally more expensive. Rents for off-campus apartments range from NT$ 5,000-15,000 per month. In addition, Yang Ming University also provides limited rental housing at Yang Ming campus. Meals are also available at the Activity Center Cafeteria/Dining Hall, the Chinese restaurant, and the Western restaurant on the Academia Sinica campus at modest costs.
Based on the TIGP policy, a full fellowship of NT$34,000/month for the first year is guaranteed. A merit-based evaluation will be conducted to determine the amount of the fellowship (up to NT$34,000/month) for the second and the third year.
The cost of living here is much lower than those at US and Europe, which is approximately twice the living expense in Nankung, Taipei. Most students are supported by their thesis advisors in subsequent years.
