Psoriasis model

Example of mouse model

(A) Representative photographs of mice at day 4 treated with daily injections of saline (top) or 1 μg IL-23 (bottom). (B) Representative histological sections at day 4 of littermate wild-type C57BL/6 mice treated daily with saline (top) and IL-23R−/− mice treated daily with 1 μg IL-23 (bottom). Red arrows indicate parakeratosis. Green arrows indicate neutrophilic exudates. Bar, 100 μm. (C) Epidermal thickness was measured in mice treated daily with saline (○) or 1 μg IL-23 (●). Data was pooled together from six independent experiments performed in quadruplicate. Mean ± SD is shown. *, P < 0.001. (D) Representative frozen sections stained for CD31. Samples were taken at day 4 from mice treated daily with saline (top) or 1 μg IL-23 (bottom). Red arrows indicate CD31 staining in the dermal papillary. Bar, 100 μm.

Atopic dermatitis

Example of mouse model

Histological Analysis of Skin Lesions in Der f/SEB-treated Mice. (A) Untreated healthy skin and Der f/SEB-induced skin lesions were stained with H&E, anti-CD4, anti-Mac-1, and toluidine blue (to stain mast cells, MC). (B) Cellular data of skin lesions before and after treatment with Der f/SEB are shown (Top), combined with cell counts in the skin after therapeutic treatments with vehicle, terreic acid (TA) or dexamethasone (Dex)(Bottom). Samples were taken from the therapeutic experiments shown in Figure 4C. Error bars represent standard deviation.

Left: A representative mouse (Left) with skin lesions exhibiting sever redness, bleeding, eruption, and scaling is shown along with a mouse (Right) with healthy skin.
