I have presided since 1992 the Nutrition and Health Survey in Taiwan which documents the key and unique health and nutrition problems of the country. My research team emphasizes using prospective study design and omics tools (genomics and metabolomics) to dissect genetic, diet and lifestyle related-etiology of cardiometabolic diseases such as hypertension, obesity, and aging-related diseases. Our discoveries can be used to appraise chronic disease risk and apply precision preventive medicine. Personalized lifestyle prescription may be provided to individuals with elevated disease risk. We have deployed dimension reduction technique to find influential dietary patterns which is then associated with disease and subclinical disorders. In order to contribute to disease prevention, we have been designing and evaluating efficacy of therapeutic diets or supplements with multiple beneficial components to lower risk of diseases, e.g., asthma, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, hyperuricemia, and breast cancer.
本人自1992年起擔任國民營養健康變遷調查計畫主持人至今,深諳國人重要以及特殊的營養健康議題。我的研究室著重具時序性的前瞻性研究,應用體學研究法(基因體、代謝體學)探討心臟血管代謝疾病如:高血壓、肥胖、及代謝與老化疾病之成因(遺傳、飲食、與生活型態),並將成果運用在疾病風險評估,及精準預防醫學上;對有不同疾病風險者,可使用強化生活型態療法,降低風險。飲食資料極其複雜且相互相關,我們使用減維度的方法學找出各種飲食型態,探討其和疾病或臨床徵兆的關係。近來致力於設計涉及多種食物類的治療飲食並進行臨床試驗驗證,如:設計並探討適合台灣人的各種心臟血管危險因子控制飲食、衰弱症防治飲食、乳癌高風險女性之預防飲食等。
