Academia Sinica, Taiwan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS). The initial appointment is for a period of three years and is renewable for a second term.
As the preeminent academic research institute in Taiwan, Academia Sinica is devoted to basic and applied research in mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences and the humanities. Established in 1980s, the IBMS has become a world-renowned biomedical research institution in Taiwan. The 43 full time faculty are engaged in high impact basic and translational research that addresses global and local biomedical needs. Current research efforts of the IBMS cover 4 broad disease areas: Neuroscience, Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases, Infectious Disease & Immunology, and Cancer. Interested candidates should have a PhD and/or MD degree, a distinguished record of academic scholarship, diverse experiences in university and professional service, and a plan to pursue high impact research. The successful candidate will be expected to build on the existing strengths of the institute, develop new research thrusts, promote biomedical sciences, and provide intellectual leadership in life science research in Taiwan. The salary and start-up package are highly competitive.
