The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to
(1) design/conduct new experiments,
(2) present his/her results at lab, institutional and national meetings, and
(3) prepare manuscripts for publication.
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica to study the neural pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy (DM), an inherited micro-satellite expansion disease.
The lab has a special focus on the role of post-transcriptional regulation in DM1 pathogenesis.
We utilize primary neuronal culture, animal models and multi-omics approaches to study how the toxic RNA transcribed from the micro-satellite (CTG) expansion disrupts the functions of RNA binding proteins leading to dysregulation of metabolic activities and vasculature in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases.
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree, and have background in neuroscience, cardiovascular, molecular and/or cell biology. Experience for performing mouse experiments is preferred.
Candidates with strong motivation and interests in working on the molecular mechanism of neurological diseases are encouraged to apply.
