作為感染疾病研究組的一員,目前本室的研究著重於 (1) 利士曼原蟲與宿主巨噬細胞的 ligand-receptor相互作用的分子機制。(2) 用 DNA 或 Protein 免疫的方法,探討 ICAM 對利士曼蟲感染的保護價值。(3) 利士曼寄生原蟲抗藥性產生的機制。

(1) 在利士曼蟲與宿主巨噬細胞相互作用的研究上,我們擬瞭解利士曼蟲細胞間素 (ICAM) 與宿主巨噬細胞表面受體相互作用而引發感染或促進控制此疾病之分子途徑。(2) 利士曼蟲感染傷口上,聚集大量 neutrophils。近來的研究發現,neutrophil 的 elastase 可與宿主巨噬細胞的 Toll receptor 4 (TLR4) 相互作用,產生 TNFa而置 Leishmania 於死地。ICAM 免疫後引起小鼠腹腔中大量 neutrophil 的聚集。所以本室正在探討 neutrophil 在利士曼蟲感染上所扮演的角色。(3) 在利士曼蟲抗藥性研究上,本室著重於抗藥性產生的機制分析。利用基因體與蛋白體相互比較的方法,找出在抗藥性產生過程中被活化的基因,進而以基因功能的分析,瞭解抗藥性及基因擴漲現象發生的機制。
