In collaboration with Dr. Ruey-Bing Yang, we propose to decipher the roles of Scube2 in coronary vasculature formation during heart development and regeneration. Our preliminary findings showed that scube2 mutants are defective in coronary development and revascularization after cardiac injury resembling myocardial infarction, in turn, compromised cardiac muscle regeneration and scar resolution. Underlying mechanisms and how scube2 signaling may enhance cardiac repair await further investigations.
